SDG World Tour Kickoff on April 9th in New York City
Historic ship Clipper Stad Amsterdam to sail the world to raise awareness on UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
We kindly invite you to attend a special moment in New York, the kickoff of the SDG World Tour. April 9, 2019. This tour will be kicked off on April 9th aboard the historic three-masted Clipper Stad Amsterdam docked in New York at Chelsea Piers.
The SDG World Tour is an initiative that is created by young people, for young people. The World Tour aims to raise awareness on, and accelerate the progression of, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals as formulated by the United Nations. The Clipper Stad Amsterdam will sail to 17 different places around the world, starting in Amsterdam in August 2020 and arriving at the Headquarters of the UN in New York City in September 2022.

Femke Halsema, Mayor of Amsterdam, is going to open the event. The (first
ever) Youth Mayor of Amsterdam, Avianka Aventurin, will be handing over the
official SDG World Tour Flag to Alison Smale, Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications at the UN

The kickoff will be concluded with the first youth dialogue session on sustainable development goal 8: youth employment. This session is powered by Randstad.

The SDG World Tour has two founding partners: Randstad and Goldschmeding Foundation. The initiative is endorsed by the City of Amsterdam.
