De clipper Stad Amsterdam vaart uit, maar eerst: een grote beurt

The SDG World Tour kicks off in NYC
APRIL 9th, NEW YORK CITY. The SDG World Tour officially kicks off on the Clipper Stad Amsterdam at Chelsea Piers in New York on April 9th, 2019. Alison Smale, Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications at the UN opens the event, followed by Udo Kock, the Deputy Mayor. The first ever Youth Mayor of Amsterdam, Avianka Aventurin handed over the official SDG World Tour Flag to Alison Smale.
A wide group of diverse change makers together with a lot of young people were invited on board to celebrate the kickoff. The leadership and creativity of young people is key in achieving the SDGs.
In addition, several prominent figures are involved in the SDG World Tour. Such as, Former Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-Moon who is a patron and astronaut André Kuipers is an ambassador for the project.
The event concluded with the first dialogue session on sustainable development goal 8: youth employment. This session is powered by Randstad, an HR services provider. Randstad specifically contributes to the goals that link to our ultimate goal for 2030.
The Clipper Stad Amsterdam is a three-masted clipper. She will serve as a sailing SDG platform that will set sail to 17 different places around the world to highlight each of the SDGs.
The SDG World Tour has two founding partners: Randstad and Goldschmeding Foundation. The initiative is endorsed by the City of Amsterdam.
